Meet our speakers

Andy Gippsland SolarAndrew McCarthy (Andy) is the Founder and Managing Director of Gippsland Solar, and has 17 years of experience in the renewable energy industry. After starting Gippsland Solar in the 3rd bedroom of his family home in 2010, he has grown the business to be one of the largest providers in Victoria. He has also founded a handful of spin-off businesses, including Solar Fix Gippsland and Gippsland Heating & Cooling.

Gippsland Solar and their associated companies now employ 26 full-time staff (plus subcontractors), with Andy planning to continue reinvesting to grow the business and employ more staff in the Latrobe Valley.

Lizi MaskiellLizi Maskiell is a qualified Nutritionist with a background in community health and primary health care, intolerances, eating disorders and food development and Director of her business Raw Harvest.

Lizi is passionate about providing locally grown and handmade products to the community, using seasonal produce – ­the foundation of Raw Harvest. 
Lizi is a member of Support Local Gippsalnd and part of the team that created Gippsland Makers Market. She also works with ReActivate Latrobe Valley managing the 50 Mile Farmers Markets and a team member of Get Stuffed – Latrobe Valley’s Food Network that are focussing on the basics of nutritious food production, encouraging connections between local producers and customers, promoting community education, and sharing information, ideas and enthusiasm.

Lizi has a passion for supporting local businesses and believes that in this time of transition we need to focus on the positive assets and opportunities Gippsland provides.

Andrew NorthoverAndrew Northover is a professional photographer & filmmaker from Traralgon in Gippsland’s Latrobe Valley. For the past 5 years, he has been fully qualified and practicing as a mechanical engineer, however through the power of social media, he has been able to turn his hobby of photography into a full time career choice, and has made the shift into a world of professional visual content production.

Andrew specialises in adventure photography with his work mostly featuring Gippsland’s hidden and unmarked landscapes. In 2014 he started the online web video series “WEEKENDS”, which showcases a group of friend’s adventures through through the great outdoors, with a strong focus on Gippsland’s raw wilderness. Early 2016 had Andrew presenting this part of the world to the European market via a collaboration with STA Travel and Tourism Victoria in their “Straight Outta Melbourne” video campaign, which to date has accumulated over 100,000 views.
